Baby Rhyme Time at the Library

I'm not even going to mention the fact that it has been months since my last entry. I'm not going to talk about how facebook has become my new miniblog. I'll just go straight to my funny story :)

Hannah had a play date with baby Amanda yesterday. Larissa had something come up and so she moved it to the library instead of her house, no biggie. But, holy cow am I ever glad she did that! Turns out the library has this thing called Baby Rhyme Time and it is just amazing. Everyone sits around in a circle with their designated baby and sings and bounces. Just like what you see on TV!!

So, we sit in the circle with probably about 12 other babies and the leader is talking, explaining what we're going to do and babies are chattering and cooing. Then, we start singing the first song and doing a little bouncing. Hannah immediately shuts up and is silently staring around the room with a look of awe on her face. She's facing into the circle so she can see the other babies, so I couldn't really get a good look at her face but when she turned to look at Amanda next to us I saw this awestruck, OMG, EVERYBODY IS SINGING TO ME look.

But then....one of the next songs involved raising your baby up high in the air and bringing her back down. Hannah about came out of her skin she was so excited. She does this thing where, when she is soooooo happy, she opens her mouth really wide. So, she had her mouth wide open and was just looking back and forth at everyone like, OMG, THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!! They do about 20-30 minutes of singing and rhyming and then you set the babies free to go mingle and play with one another in the center of the circle. It reminded me of when we took Eleanor to puppy kindergarten and after the training session the puppies all ran to the center to sniff one another.

Hannah went straight into the circle to see the others and play with some toys. But then, this older baby who was walking pretty well wandered over to Hannah and bent down to get a toy. She was unfortunately blocking Hannah's view with her butt once she'd bent over so Hannah tried to push her aside. The little girl wobbled a little and looked up like, whoa what happened? But she bent over once again to try and get her toy. Hannah pushed with more oomph this time and knocked the poor little girl right over! I tried not to laugh too much, but picked Hannah up and chastised her for being a bully...pushing is not nice. But it was really funny, it's like what she does at home when something is in her path - shoves it to the side :)

I promised Hannah that we would definitely be going to more rhyme times now that I know about them. She can't wait!
