Christmas casualty #3 and counting...

So I started playing Christmas this weekend, got out our boxes of decorations and lights to make the house festive. Because of having kitties, I know to be a little cautious of what goes out - ie, no more garland. This morning Lance heard a crash and when he got to the dining room both George and Henry were sitting very nonchalant like on the floor looking at the broken plant/pot. In my hope that the kitties would be good, I draped one of those table runners with tassels over a cabinet and had two of our plants with misc. Christmas knick-knacks on top. Apparently the tassels were just too much for them to pass up, I'm not sure if it was one or both, but the mess had kitty written all over it.

This afternoon Henry was in Lance's woodshop helping Lance work the wood and somehow managed to knock over several planks of wood and broke a finished piece that was drying. He didn't even scatter though, just sat and looked at the mess like, huh. Luckily Lance can re-glue what Henry took apart...but still - naughty kitty! I can't say what it was because its a Christmas present Lance is making, but Henry has left his mark on it too.

Just now during supper, Henry was seen toting one of my favorite ornaments around the living room. It is (was) a couple of boxes wrapped like presents with a horn and holly on top. He took the holly off. He's anxious for his presents I think.

I can only imagine what we'll come home to tomorrow seeings how very busy Henry was today. Lance suggested that perhaps Henry become an outside kitty, or maybe even a gift...

A thief in the house

Its a common thing for people to mis-place socks, especially during the days of doing laundry at the laundry mats. But we've had in-home laundry now for years and would still occasionally loose a sock here and there. This last year though, we've mis-placed a crazy amount of socks. Just this evening as we were folding clothes, I had 6 un-matched socks! Its not like I paired up the wrong ones or anything, my socks are pink or striped or whatever and obviously only have one mate.

I blame the gray one, aka, Henry. He has a sick sock fetish... pretty much every day when we come home from work there will be a sock on the kitchen floor, living room floor, stairway, maybe even in the bathroom. We pick them up and throw them back down the laundry shoot to the basement. I know it isn't Franklin, he's in his kennel all day long, and I know it isn't Eleanor, she's afraid to nudge the basement door open. It has to be George or Henry and since Henry has been seen carrying razors, glasses, sponges, etc through the house, I blame him for my missing socks. Somewhere he has a secret stash. I have yet to see him with a sock in his mouth toting it around the house, but I'm sure he thinks it is great kill.

My obsession....

I have a few, but this one is about Tom Waits. I absolutely love music (I think everyone should). I couldn't begin to name all the different bands and people I listen to, but it is a pretty wide range. Sometimes when I put my iTunes on shuffle, its funny to hear a Statler Brothers tune followed by Rage Against the Machine...Anyway, back to Tom. I was introduced to Blue Valentine by someone I met in Germany my first time over there. I can remember coming back home and trying to show my mom this cool new tape I got. She thought he sounded old and scratchy and why did I like that??

Lance and I were lucky enough to see Tom in concert when we were living in Mpls and it was unbelievable. I loved every minute of it, he makes me giggle. Especially when he throws glitter. My recent preoccupation with Tom is because I'm going to San Francisco in January and would love nothing more than to just bump into him on the street. I've done a little digging and found his home listed on the county assessor's site....that's a bit stalker-esque though, hmm. I'll have to let it go, stay in the city, don't stalk, and enjoy his music through my iPod.

Switch-er-oooo

So as fun and easy as iWeb is, turns out its pretty limiting for those who don't go the dotmac route. I've found an alternative for blogging so I can get the RSS feed and comment feature working. Luckily I only had two blog posts under my belt, so not much to transfer!

from November 11th

I love my dog! So, Lance is away this weekend, having a boys weekend. I didn’t get to sleep in like I usually do because the dogs can only hold it for so long. But yesterday, I took Franklin to the pet store to get a weight on him and socialize him some. He’s always done very well with riding in the car and meeting new people. The store though was busier than I’d ever seen it. He was coo’d to and pet by no less than 50 people! Its funny, I forget how big he is until I see a ‘regular’ dog or the expression on someone’s face as they attempt to pet him. I was also pleasantly surprised by how many parents told their kids to ask first if they could pet him rather than just running willy nilly up to him. Good for those parents! There was one little kid who obviously wanted to pet him but was shy and I told him its okay, he’s very friendly. The kid didn’t move his arms but leaned a little towards Franklin and that was all the invitation Franklin needed - he stuck his big ole nose up in the kid’s face to get a good sniff :) The kid giggled, but I could no longer see him, Franklin completely dwarfed his head! On our way home, I had two different cars pull up beside me at stoplights and call out their windows to me about what a large dog, and how pretty he is. It was probably pretty funny for them to see Franklin riding in the back seat of my little Yaris. He likes my little car though, hops right in whenever its time for a ride. What a good boy. Oh, and he only weighs 180 lbs. I was expecting more.

Today is the day for starting up not only a highly advanced web site, but also a blog! Everybody else blogs, so we'd better join the bandwagon. I'm surprised this hasn't come sooner, considering I've been in IT for years and know how to do all this crap, just haven't taken the time. I'm hoping this will be a good way to share all the pics we take and keep in touch with all the friends and fam.
